Back to School: Tips, stories and advice with the Merci Maman Mums

It’s been an extra-long summer and now the time has finally arrived – the little ones are back to school. We know it may seem strange to wave them off after all this time, and there are so many different back to school rituals for families. We caught up with some of the Merci Maman Mums to discuss their back to school plans, concerns and rituals to help ease your little ones back into the routine of school.

For some such as Capucine, our Finance and Supply Chain Manager, the back to school routine isn’t just to and from the schoolyard and back, it’s all the extra-curricular activities that come with it. Ballet, music, and football to name a few. Her little ones are excited to go back to school, and more importantly to see their friends, even if they won’t admit it! Alix, our UK Country Manager has her youngest Maggie starting in the school nursery, whilst her old sister Lottie is going into Year 1 and can’t wait to be one of the ‘big kids’, and to wear her new uniform and school shoes.

Emma, our Senior Customer Service Manager talked about how it is usually sad to wave them off on the first day after a whole summer as a family, however with the strange year we have had this year will definitely feel different. Her back to school ritual can be quite chaotic – usually with a lot of last-minute stationary requests a few days before term! She loves the matching Mummy and child pastille bracelet sets with a matching charm for Mummy and mini, to let the little one know you’re with them every step of the way. Alix’s pick is the Cath Kidston duo collection in Hedge Rose – perfect to match their Cath Kidston pencil case.

Over the last six months parents all across the globe have adapted to changes in work, school and lifestyle. We’ve all be thrown into new environments, whether it be a makeshift kitchen table office, an at home school set up in the living room or even a garden gym for Joe Wick’s early morning workouts. With the big shift in working from home, we chatted about the concerns of juggling home, work and school life. Whilst Emma’s sons are slightly older and can make their way to school independently, she is nervous for them to use public transport. Alix is hoping we will be back to a relatively normal routine by September time to give the girls some structure when starting school.

If we had to give one piece of advice on preparing for the back to school, what is the secret to starting a new school year?
