Valentine’s crafts aren’t just for kids and can be great fun for the whole family to get involved with. Keep reading for some ideas on cute easy-to-make crafts that you can keep as Valentines décor!

Valentine’s Crafts Idea 1: Thumbprint Hearts

thumbprint hearts

One of the easier Valentine’s crafts to complete. This is one the entire family can get involved in! All you need is:

  • A white plate, mug, bowl or any other utensil that you would like to decorate
  • Multi-surface red paint
  • A sharpie

To assemble:

  1. Firstly, map out were you want to layout your fingerprints and where you want to layout your text.  Place a tiny dot of paint where you want each fingerprint to go, so that the spacing can be as equal as possible.
  2. Next, place a small amount of paint into a separate utensil and dip a finger into the paint. Using your finger, make two prints to form a heart shape. Once you have created your heart repeat the step with your partner, children or anyone else that you are celebrating Valentine with.
  3. Using the Sharpie, write names next to each fingerprint, and any other additional text you would like.

And that is all you need to do to make this adorable keepsake, that you can keep adding to until your hearts content!

Valentine’s Crafts Idea 2: Felt Heart Pockets

felt hearts

These heart pockets are a great way to get the kids into sewing and make for an adorable Valentine’s themed craft! All you need is:

  • Multi Coloured Felt
  • Embroidery Thread
  • A Needle

Creating these pockets is super simple:

  1. For the first step, you will need to cut out 2 equal-sized felt hearts. We recommend using a template so that they are equal in size
  2. Next you will need to knot the end of your thread and put your two layers of felt together, preparing for a blanket stitch.
  3. Gently poke the needle through the backside of the top layer, and pull through until you reach the knot.
  4. Place your two layers of felt together and thread through the back, coming out exactly where your first stitch came out. Pull your thread almost all the way through until you have a small loop over the edge of the felt.
  5. Thread your needle through the loop, and pull taut.
  6. From the backside, move your needle over to the right and thread through to the front to create another loop. Thread your needle through the loop and pull taught. You should start to see the blanket stitch forming!
  7. Continue repeating until you’ve sewn half of the circumference of the heart
  8. To finish, just tie a knot inside the two layers and tuck in the ends of the thread

Once done, you can use these pockets to hold Valentine’s cards, chocolates or any other treats you have prepared for your little ones!
