Every year, October turns pink. Pink October is the global month dedicated to raising awareness of breast cancer. For Merci Maman, it’s much more than just a campaign: it’s a sincere commitment, driven by women, for women. Once again this year, we’ve created a piece that says what words sometimes struggle to express.

What is Pink October?

Pink October (also known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month) is an international campaign launched in 1985 to raise public awareness of breast cancer, encourage early screening and support those living with breast cancer, those who have survived it, and those we pay tribute to.

Throughout the month, pink ribbons appear on clothing, shop fronts and wrists. This small pink symbol has become a universal sign of solidarity, hope and shared strength.

Why pink?

The pink ribbon was adopted internationally as the symbol of Pink October as early as 1992. It represents several things at once: the gentleness of those who are fighting, the light they carry within them, and the collective strength of those around them. Wearing pink in October is a way of saying (without needing words): “I see you, I’m here”.

Our commitment to Pink October

Merci Maman is a brand founded by a woman, Béatrice de Montille, and run by a team of women. Pink October touches us deeply, on a personal level.

That’s why, every year, we create one or two special pieces of hand-engraved jewellery, designed to convey a message of strength and support. And this year, 100 percent of the profits generated by our Pink October collection will be donated to our chosen breast cancer charity.
